How do I find my accident report in Nevada?
Nevada makes it pretty easy to obtain your accident report via online request. Below are the instructions for both finding your report with Nevada Highway Patrol and Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.
Requesting a Report from Nevada Highway Patrol
Requests for accident reports can be made online. Obtaining an accident report in Nevada will cost you $10 per report, plus $5 for a photo CD.
Once your request is submitted, the Department of Public Safety / Nevada Highway Patrol will typically contact you about your request within 3 business days to arrange receipt of the report which may take up to 7 to 10 days.
To request a crash report from Nevada Highway Patrol, you will need to know which area your crash occurred in. Nevada divides its state into three regions: Northern Command West, Northern Command East, and Southern Command. The map on this page and the list of what each region covers below can be helpful if you’re unsure of what region your accident occurred in.
Northern Command West: Reno, Carson/Tahoe/Minden/, Fernley, Fallon, Yerington, Hawthorne & Tonopah
Northern Command East Covers: Lovelock, Winnemucca, Elko, Ely, Austin, Battle Mtn, Carlin, Eureka, Golconda, Imlay, Wells, W. Wendover as well as other parts of Eastern Nevada.
Southern Command Covers: Las Vegas, Beatty, Nixon, Boulder City, Laughlin, Searchlight, as well as other parts of Southern Nevada. Once you know which region your crash occurred in, you can fill out a crash report at one of the links by clicking on the correct region:

Requesting a Report from Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department
If your accident occurred in Las Vegas, there’s a good chance that your report will be found with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.
Most traffic accident reports can be delivered through email via a secured link, but you can also elect to pick it up in person or have it mailed. Make sure to allow a minimum of 10 business days from the date of the incident before requesting a report. Once your request is received, you will be notified by email. You can pay online via credit or debit card.
Note that if you decide to pick up your report in person, you have 30 days to pick it up after which your requested report will no longer be available.

Nevada Accident Reports - FAQ
In the Crash Report Request form for the Nevada Department of Public Safety, you will need to provide as much of the following information as possible:
- Crash number
- Date occurred
- Time of crash (approximate)
- Location of crash (freeway / highway / street / city / etc.)
- Name of investigating Trooper
When requesting an accident report from Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, you will need the following at a minimum:
- Email address
- Phone number with area code
- Event number or date/time and location of the incident
When you’re involved in an accident in Nevada that was not investigated at the scene by a law enforcement officer you are required to report the accident with a Report of Traffic Crash Form (SR-1) within 10 days after the crash.
Keep in mind that this form cannot be accepted or processed unless all information has been completed for all drivers and vehicles involved so it’s crucial to take down everyone’s information at the scene.
Along with the SR-1 you will need to provide:
- A copy of your insurance that was in effect on the date of the crash for the vehicle that was involved
- An estimate for repairs or a statement of total loss if there was $750 or more in vehicle or property damage of any one person
- Doctors statement of injury for each person that was injured in your vehicle if applicable
If this information isn’t included your SR-1 will be considered void so it’s essential that you read the information on the form carefully and ensure that all requirements are met.
