To find your accident report in Iowa, you will need to know what kind of report you're looking to get. In Iowa, there are three different types of reports involving accidents. The first is an officer's report that was completed by a law enforcement officer. The second is a driver's report to get a copy of a report you previously filed. Or you can request limited information regarding an accident if you just need something specific.

Unfortunately, all reports must be requested via mail because Iowa does not have an online database available for ordering accident reports. Below you'll find information about the different reports available and how to get a copy of each in Iowa.

State law allows officer's reports to only be given to people that were involved in an accident, their attorney, insurance companies, or insurance agents. To get a copy of an Officer's report for a traffic accident in Iowa, you will need to send a written request via this form along with a payment of $4.00 for the report to:

If you need a copy of the accident report that you completed, you can request that as well. If the accident occurred in 1994 or after, the fee is .50. If the accident happened in 1993 or prior, it is $3.20 to request a copy. To request this report, send a written request, including the following:
