This accident occurred on Thursday, May 30th 2024 at approximately 9:24 pm. Injuries were reported. An officer from Columbus Police Department was present at the scene and recorded the information contained in this report.
Unit #1 was turning s/b on N High St from Olentangy St. Unit #2 had the walk sign in the crosswalk and was walking in the crosswalk at N High St and Olentangy St. Unit #1 struck Unit #2 and dragged them approximately fifty feet. Unit #1 disengaged from Unit #2 and continued s/b on N High St. Unit #3 who was directly behind Unit #1 could not stop their vehicle and drove over Unit #2. Unit #3 immediately slowed down and was struck by Unit #4 from behind. Unit #2 was transported in critical condition to Riverside Hospital by CFD Medic #13 and was pronounced at 9;57 p.m. Unit #3 said they did not see what vehicle Unit #1 looked like that dragged Unit #2. Unit #4 said they struck Unit #3 because they slowed down in the roadway. Witness #1 saw the crash occur and saw what looked to be a blue Toyota Corolla strike Unit #2. Witness #2 and Witness #3 said they did not see the vehicle that dragged Unit #2; they just saw Unit #3 drive over Unit #2. The reporting Officer contacted AIU who advised the reporting Officer how to complete the report.
