This accident, involving 2 vehicles occurred on Saturday, March 30th 2024 at approximately 10:37 pm. The driver of red Honda (2017) improper lane change. Injuries were reported. An officer from Plain (Township of) Police Department was present at the scene and recorded the information contained in this report.
On 04/04/2024 I met with Collin at the Stark County Sheriff's Office to conduct a follow up interview. Collin was greeted and escorted to the interview room. Collin was advised he is not under arrest and free to end the interview at any point; which he acknowledged. Collin advised he was visiting his girlfriend in Tuscarwas County and was traveling back to his listed address. Collin stated when he got on I-77 North; he was maintaining approximately 60 MPH in the middle lane. Collin stated while traveling; he was listening to music and reported no issues during his drive. Collin stated as he was approaching the 65 MPH zone; near the Mile Post 109; he felt an impact from behind. Collin was unaware of exactly what happened but felt some kind of mechanical issue; which he later learned was a blown out tire; and stopped. Collin stated he then saw the helment and bike skidding along the roadway; but at first did not see the rider. Collin advised where he stopped; he saw the bike approximately 15 yards behind him; and then realized the rider was several yards south of the bike. Collin advised there was a bystander that stopped and was attempting first aid on the rider and he saw he had some kind of head injury. Collin advised he called 911 at this point and awaited emergency personel arrival in his truck. Collin advised at no point before the impact did he see or hear the motorcycl
