This accident, involving 2 vehicles occurred on Friday, February 9th 2024 at approximately 4:07 pm. The driver of brown Chevrolet (2013) failure to yield. Injuries were reported. An officer from Akron Police Department was present at the scene and recorded the information contained in this report.
Unit #1 is an electric bicycle. Unit #1 was north on S Arlington St at Ray St. Unit #1 was attempting to cross Ray St. Unit #2 was south on S Arlington St attempting to turn left onto Ray St. Unit #2 turned left and struck unit #1. The rider of unit #1 was knocked off the bicycle and landed on the northeast corner of the intersection on the sidewalk. Unit #2 left the scene east on Ray St. Unit #2 described as a white vehicle. The rider of unit #1 was unresponsive in ICU at hospital; so his exact actions are unknown at this time. The rider of unit #1 later succumbed to his injuries. Unit #2 was recovered by detectives in Ashtabula; OH on 3/7/24 and towed back to Akron. Warrants for the listed driver of unit #2 were issued; and a citation for ORC 4511.46 Pedestrian Right of Way was issued on cite A638835.
