This accident, involving 2 vehicles occurred on Thursday, February 8th 2024 at approximately 8:30 pm. The driver of black Suzuki (1995) unsafe speed. Injuries were reported. An officer from Columbus Police Department was present at the scene and recorded the information contained in this report.
Driver of Unit 2 stated that he was attempting to turn westbound onto Clairbrook Avenue; from northbound Norton Road; when Unit #1 was travelling at a very high rate of speed southbound on Norton Road; from Sullivant Avenue. Driver of Unit #2 stated that due to the distance of Unit #1; he perceived a longer amount of time available to complete his westbound turn; however Unit #1 quickly struck the 5 o'clock position of Unit #2 anyway. Unit #1 came to final rest within the intersection; driver of Unit #1 was ejected approx. 5 feet from Unit #1; and the passenger of Unit #1 was ejected approx. 50 feet southeast from Unit #1. Unit #2 came to final rest facing northbound in the intersection; after being spun 90 degrees clockwise after impact. Witness stated that he was travelling southbound on Norton Road; from Sullivant Avenue; when Unit #1 travelled southbound past witness at a high-rate of speed. Witness stated it took only a moment for Unit #1 to travel southbound from Sullivant to Clairbrook. Driver of Unit #1 pronounced on scene at 8:39PM by Prairie Township Engine 241. Occupant of Unit #1 transported to Grant Hospital in critical condition by CFD Medic 31; treated in Trauma Bay by Dr. Hill. All occupants of Unit #2 evaluated on scene by Franklin Township Medic 192. Processed by AIU Det. Eagon #240. Both Units were inventoried and impounded to CPD Impound Lot for safekeeping.
