Unit 1 was traveliing an unknown direction down E Whittier St in the area of Macon Alley and S 5th St. Pedestrian 1 was walking southbound on E Whittier St from his vehicle approaching his residence. Unit 1 failed to observe Pedestrian 1 and an unknown portion of Unit 1 struck Pedestrian 1. Unit 1 fled the scene prior to the officers arrival. Pedestrian 1 was lying i the eastbound lane of E Whittier Ave when officers arrived. He was transported by CFD Medic 3 in critical condition to Grant Hospital. Grant Hospital pronounced at 9:45 pm. .AIU responded and processed the scene.
