This accident, involving 1 vehicle occurred on Monday, August 7th 2023 at approximately 1:28 pm. The driver of gray Chevrolet (2002) drove off road. Injuries were reported. An officer from Uniontown Police Department was present at the scene and recorded the information contained in this report.
Unit #1 was stationary in the gravel lot of Beiler's Penn Dutch Market located at 13160 Cleveland Ave. when it suddenly accelerated at a high rate of speed and struck an unoccupied horse buggy. Unit #1 continued Northwest; crossing all four lanes of Cleveland Ave; and went off the West side of the road and struck a fence post. Unit #1 continued Northwest across the grass at a high rate of speed and struck a tree in the front lawn of Grace United Church located at 13275 Cleveland Ave. and coming to rest under the tree. Uniontown Fire Department responded to the scene and was able to extricate the trapped; conscious but unresponsive driver from the vehicle. The driver was transported to Akron City Hospital by medical personal; it was later learned that the driver had passed away as a result of her injuries. The Stark County Crash Team was requested to the scene and they conducted their own investigation; Marlboro Towing was able to free the vehicle from the tree and towed it from the scene. Ofc. E.
