Description

Additional Narrative

Unit 1 was traveling Southbound on Salem Ave at S Meadow Drive. Unit 2 was a motorized wheelchair attempting to cross Salem Ave from east to west at S Meadow Drive. When Unit 2 got to the middle southbound lane she was struck by Unit 1. Unit 2 was not crossing in a crosswalk; the roadway was dark with no lighting; and unit 2 did not have any lights or reflectors on the wheelchair. The occupant of the wheelchair was removed to the hospital and passed away a short time later. Nothing further at this time pending the follow up investiagtion.
