This accident, involving 2 vehicles occurred on Tuesday, November 14th 2023 at approximately 6:03 pm. The driver of improper crossing. Injuries were reported. An officer from Norwood Police Department was present at the scene and recorded the information contained in this report.

Unit 1 was traveling generally northbound in the 4300 block of US-42 (Reading Road) in the left lane of travel. Unit 2; a pedestrian; was walking generally northbound on the sidewalk; parallel to the northbound lanes of the 4300 block of US-42 (Reading Road).  At this point; Unit 2 abruptly changed direction and entered into the roadway in an area not designated for crossing; encroaching into Unit 1's lane of travel. The front portion of Unit 1 then struck the left side of Unit 2. During maximum engagement with Unit 1; Unit 2 traveled up and onto the left portion of Unit 1's hood. The operator of Unit 1 state he immediately braked and steered Unit 1 into the right lane of travel. As Unit 2 separated from Unit 1; Unit 2 was thrown in a northwesterly direction. Unit 2 came to an uncontrolled final rest along the center dividing lines in front of 4359 US-42 (Reading Road). Unit 1was driven to a controlled final rest into the right lane in front of 4360 US-42 (Reading Road).The City of Norwood Fire Department transported Unit 2 to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased by Doctor Haffner ; MD 2507 at 6:35pm.
