This accident, involving 2 vehicles occurred on Friday, December 22nd 2023 at approximately 5:18 pm. The driver of white Chevrolet (2016) improper passing. Injuries were reported. Unit 2 was traveling Northbound on SR 49 when it crossed the centerline to pass another Northbound vehicle; but failed to yield the right of way to another oncoming unit; Unit 1 (an Amish horse and buggy); which was Southbound on SR 49. In an attempt to avoid a collision; Unit 1 attempted to move to the right and into the ditch area on the West side of SR 49; but was unable to do so before Unit 2 struck Unit 1 head-on. This caused Unit 1 to strike the ditch; landing on its side; and all occupants of Unit 1 to be fully ejected. After striking Unit 1; Unit 2 went into the West side ditch; traveling erratically Northbound before striking a utility pole. Unit 2 continued coming to final rest; facing West in the middle of the roadway. The driver of Unit 2 was fully ejected as well. NOTE: THIS DIAGRAM IS NOT TO SCALE AND MAY NOT BE COMPLETELY ACCURATE.
