This accident, involving 5 vehicles occurred on Friday, December 1st 2023 at approximately 10:59 pm. The driver of white Freightliner (2013) swerving to avoid. Injuries were reported. An officer from Grove City Police Department was present at the scene and recorded the information contained in this report.

Unit#1 was traveling east on IR-270 in the left lane. Unit#2 was traveling east on IR-270 in the left lane and developed engine trouble; and  was traveling towards the emergency turn around that was available to pull out of the roadway. Unit#3 and Unit#4 and Unit#5 were traveling east on IR-270 in the middle lane. Unit#1  was still in the left lane and passed Unit#3; Unit#4; and Unit#5. Unit#1 struck the rear of the trailer of Unit#2; and went into the middle lane and struck Unit#3. Unit#3 then went off the right side of the road; and slid into the ditch. Unit#4 drove thru the debris on the roadway and continued east on IR-270. Unit#5 drove thru the debris on the roadway and stopped on the right berm east of the accident scene. Unit#4 was found on IR-270 east of the accident scene with no motorist or occupants; and it was a stolen car out of the City of Columbus Police. The motorist of Unit#1 was declared deceased at the accident scene by Jackson Township Medic#202 at 12:05am. Unit#2 was pulling a enclosed box trailer with Maine License Plate 383609Z; registered to:  Xtra LLC; 7911 Forsyth Blvd Suite 600; St. Louis; MO 314-7194020
