This accident, involving 2 vehicles occurred on Wednesday, October 18th 2023 at approximately 7:40 am. The driver of red Jeep (2010) left of center. Injuries were reported. An officer from Whitewater (Township of) Police Department was present at the scene and recorded the information contained in this report.
Unit 1 was traveling southbound in the 5900 block of Hamilton-Cleves Road (SR-128). Unit 2; a tri-axle dump truck pulling a trailer; which was hauling an asphalt paver and bobcat; was approaching Unit 1 from the opposite direction. As Unit 1 continued southbound; the operator of Unit 1 lost control of the vehicle. This action caused Unit 1 to travel left of center encroaching into the path of Unit 2. At this point; the left front portion of Unit 1; collided with the left side portion of Unit 2. Unit 1 continued its path into the northbound lane causing it to strike the trailer attached to Unit 2. After maximum engagement with Unit 2; Unit 1 became vertically displaced in a counter-clockwise manner re-entering the southbound lane of travel. Unit 1 then traveled off the right side of the roadway; where the rear portion of the vehicle made contact with a guardrail face; causing Unit 1 to trip and overturn onto its top. Unit 1 came to an uncontrolled final rest on its roof facing in a northeasterly direction. After the collision with Unit 1; Unit 2 traveled off the right side of the roadway; striking the guardrail with its right side and its trailer. Unit 2 came to an uncontrolled final rest in the grass in a northerly direction with its trailer partially left in the roadway.
