This accident, involving 2 vehicles occurred on Friday, July 7th 2023 at approximately 7:40 pm. The driver of white Chevrolet (2012) failure to yield. Injuries were reported. An officer from Napoleon Police Department was present at the scene and recorded the information contained in this report.
Unit 1 was traveling southbound on St Rt 108 (Scott St) and proceeded into the center; turn only lane. Upon entering that lane of travel; Unit 1 proceeded to turn left into a commercial drive (1400 Scott St). As Unit 1 turned and crossed into the northbound lane; Unit 1 failed to see Unit 2; a single occupant motorcycle. Unit 2 was unable to stop and struck Unit 1. Unit 2 occupant was then ejected off the motorcycle and traveled 20ft from the point of impact; coming rest on the roadway. Unit 2 operator was unresponsive but breathing on scene and was taken to Henry County Hospital waiting for an Air Ambulance. Unit 2 unfortunately succumbed to the injuries sustained from the accident was pronounced dead at the Hospital. Unit 1 at time of crash stated they did not see Unit 2 before turning left. There were no signs of impairment or distracted driving from Unit 1.
