This accident, involving 2 vehicles occurred on Tuesday, July 18th 2023 at approximately 4:46 pm. The driver of silver Ford (2018) failure to yield. Injuries were reported. An officer from Columbus Police Department was present at the scene and recorded the information contained in this report.
The driver of unit 1 stated he was driving south bound on Cleveland Ave. approaching the E 3rd Ave. Unit 2 was driving north on Cleveland Ave approaching the E 3rd Ave intersection. The driver of unit 1 stated he was going to make a left turn and head east on E 3rd Ave when unit 2 crashed into him after driving at a high rate of speed. Witnesses at the scene both stated that unit 2 was driving at a high rate of speed and recklessly prior to crashing into unit 1. The driver of unit 2 was transported to Grant Hospital by CFD Medic 1 in critical condition and later pronounced at 1705 by Grant Hospital staff. The driver of unit 1 was uninjured. AIU detectives were called and responded to the scene. Both units were towed from the scene by ProTow. Unit #1 had no license plate and the VIN showed no information through LEADS.
