This accident, involving 1 vehicle occurred on Saturday, July 8th 2023 at approximately 4:25 pm. The driver of black Toyota (2013) ran stop sign. Injuries were reported. An officer from Glendale Police Department was present at the scene and recorded the information contained in this report.
This crash occurred across from the entry/exit drive for the Glenview Golf Course located at 10965 SR-4 (Springfield Pike). Unit 1 was traveling eastbound on the entry/exit drive when the operator failed to stop for the stop sign; crossing SR-4; exiting the east side of the roadway; and entering a heavy wood line. Inside the wood line; the roadside has a downhill slope. The front center portion of Unit 1 impacted a tree; causing the tree to fall over. As the tree fell over; Unit 1 traveled along the trunk of the tree becoming vertically displaced in a clockwise manner. Unit 1 came to an uncontrolled final rest slightly longitudinally displaced towards the left side of the vehicle; on top of the tree trunk; facing generally south wedged between other trees/brush. The operator of Unit 1 was pronounced deceased at the scene. At the time of the incident; an operator's license restriction was in place for the operator of Unit 1; which required a medical certification every four years and coincided with the closure of a medical license suspension.
