This accident, involving 2 vehicles occurred on Sunday, July 16th 2023 at approximately 5:07 pm. The driver of gray Lexus (2006) failure to yield. Injuries were reported. An officer from Columbus Police Department was present at the scene and recorded the information contained in this report.
Unit #2 was traveling westbound down Gemini Pl; west of Lyra Dr. Unit #1 was traveling south and preparing to exit the private drive near 1414 Gemini Pl via conducting a right turn. The driver of Unit #1 stated that she pulled out in front of Unit #2 to turn right onto Gemini Pl and Unit #2 struck her vehicle. The driver of Unit #1 stated that Unit #2 was traveling far above the speed limit and that she thought she had plenty of time to make a turn. An independent witness (listed) stated that Unit #2 was traveling the speed limit and that Unit #1 failed to yield and pulled right out in front of the motorcycle. The driver of Unit #2 was ejected from his motorcycle onto the roadway. Columbus Fire Medic #33 arrived on scene and transported the driver of Unit #2 in critical condition to Mount Carmel St. Ann's hospital; where he was pronounced deceased at 1740. Neither the driver of Unit #1 or its passenger reported an injury as a result of the crash. Officers secured the scene and the Columbus Police Accident Investigation Unit responded to conduct their investigation. Both vehicles were impounded and held as evidence at the City Impound Lot.
