This accident, involving 2 vehicles occurred on Monday, May 29th 2023 at approximately 11:43 am. The driver of gray Toyota (2016) improper passing. Injuries were reported. An officer from Norwood Police Department was present at the scene and recorded the information contained in this report.
Unit 2 was traveling south on Montgomery Rd approaching Wayland Ave. Unit 1 was traveling south on Montgomery Rd approaching Unit 2 from the rear. Unit 1 was traveling at a high rate of speed while fleeing from police. The driver of Unit 2 began turning left onto Wayland Ave as the driver of Unit 1 traveled left of center to pass. With its right side; Unit 1 clipped Unit 2 on the left front corner. The driver of Unit 1 lost control of her vehicle. Unit 1 continued south out of control. Unit 1 traveled across all lanes and ran off the road to the right. Unit 1 struck a metal pole with its right rear and sheared off the right rear wheel. Unit 1 became displaced along its vertical axis after striking the metal pole and began to rotate clockwise. With its left side; just in front of the rear wheel; unit 1 struck a telephone pole and cut the vehicle in half. The rear half of the vehicle came to a rest after striking a concrete base to a light pole just to the west of the telephone pole. The front half of Unit 1 continued onto the sidewalk and struck a second concrete base to a light pole with its right front corner. That light post and concrete base broke from the ground and landed on a used car that was for sale. Before coming to a final uncontrolled rest unit 1 struck a steel crosswalk post which caused a harsh longitudinal displacement; and the post creased the roof
