This accident, involving 3 vehicles occurred on Friday, May 5th 2023 at approximately 12:02 am. The driver of red Toyota (2002) unsafe speed. Injuries were reported. An officer from Columbus Police Department was present at the scene and recorded the information contained in this report.
On May 5th at approximately 12:00am; Unit 1 was traveling northbound on Cleveland Ave at a very high rate of speed. Unit 2 was traveling southbound on Cleveland Ave making a eastbound turn onto Oakland Park Ave. Unit 1 collided into Unit 2 head on just beyond the intersection of Cleveland Ave and Oakland Park Ave. Unit 3 was attempting to exit the KFC parking lot when hit by Unit 2 as a result of the impact between Unit 1 and Unit 2. All three units received disabling damage. The driver of Unit 1 was transported by CFD Medic #61 in stable condition to Riverside hospital. The driver of Unit 2 was transported by CFD Medic #16 to Riverside hospital in critical condition and pronounced deceased at 12:35am. The driver of Unit 3 refused medical treatment; was given an incident card; and left the scene. oth Unit 1 and Unit 2 were imponded by ProTow and held for evidence. Unit 3 was impounded by ProTow and held for safekeeping.
