This accident, involving 2 vehicles occurred on Friday, April 28th 2023 at approximately 4:04 pm. The driver of red ran stop sign. Injuries were reported. An officer from Columbus Police Department was present at the scene and recorded the information contained in this report.
Unit #1 was driving southbound on S 6th St at an unknown rate of speed on a red dirt bike; approaching the stop sign at Dering Ave. Unit #2 was driving westbound on Dering Ave at approximately 25mph; approaching S 6th St. Unit #1 failed to stop at the stop sign on S 6th St; and continued south into Dering Ave. Unit #1 then struck the passenger side of Unit #2; causing functional damage to the rear passenger side of Unit #2. Driver of Unit #1 was ejected from the dirt bike and landed on Dering Ave. Driver of Unit t#1 was not wearing a helmet; and sustained serious injuries to his head. Driver of Unit #2 then flipped around; to assist Driver of Unit #1. Witness #1 was standing on his front porch when the crash occurred. Witness #1 stated Unit #1 was driving southbound on S 6th St; approaching Dering Ave; and failed to stop at the stop sign. Unit #1 then struck Unit #2. CFD Medic 11 transported Driver of Unit #1 to Grant Hospital in critical condition. While the medics were assisting Driver of Unit #1; unknown individuals who knew Driver of Unit #1; removed Unit #1 from the scene. AIU then responded to the scene.
