This accident occurred on Monday, March 13th 2023 at approximately 2:07 am. Injuries were reported. An officer from Columbus Police Department was present at the scene and recorded the information contained in this report.
Unit 1 was traveling soutbound on McNaughten Rd. Unit 1 approached a curve/bend in the road. Unit 1 drove off of the right side of the roadway and into the grass. Unit 1 drove down the embankment and the vehicle went airborne over the ditch/stream. Unit 1 struck the embankment on the southside of the ditch/stream as Unit 1 struck the embankment. When Unit1 struck the embankment the driver and occupant were fully ejected from the Unit. Unit 1 flipped end over end and laned on top of the driver and rested on the drivers side of the vehicle. The occupant of Unit 1 was found further away from Unit 1. The Driver of Unit 1 was transported to Mount Carmel East by CFD Medic 23 in critical condition and was treated by Dr. Matthew Keller and is currently still in life threatening condition. The occupant of Unit 1 was also transported to Mount Carmel East in critical condition by Touro Township medic 162 and was treated by Dr. Carynne Fox. AIU responded to the scene. The driver of Unit 1 appeared to be under the influence of alcohol and a search warrant was obtained for a sample of his blood. The driver as pronounced dead by Dr. Hall at 8:09am.
