This accident, involving 2 vehicles occurred on Monday, March 6th 2023 at approximately 9:59 pm. The driver of gray Honda (2010) improper lane change. Injuries were reported. An officer from Columbus Police Department was present at the scene and recorded the information contained in this report.

Unit #2 was traveling S/B on I-71 in the western most lane approaching the E. North Broadway exit ramp. Unit #1 was traveling S/B on I-71 towards E. North Broadway in the middle lane when Unit #1 struck the front driver's side of Unit #2. After striking Unit #2; Unit #1 started to slide E/B across the S/B lanes of travel where it struck the cement barrier wall. Upon Unit #1 striking the barrier wall it overturned and continued to travel S/B eventually coming to rest in the east most S/B lane against the barrier wall. Columbus Fire Medic 13 responded to the scene where the driver of Unit #1 was transported to Riverside Methodist Hospital in life threatening condition. Later the driver of Unit #1 was pronounced deceased at Riverside Methodist Hospital at 10:47PM. Columbus Division of Police Accident Investigation Unit responded to the crash location to take over the crash investigation.
