Unit #1 fled from the Lorain Police Department E/B on W. 23rd Street from the area of Beech Avenue. While fleeing at a high rate of speed Unit #1 crossed multiple intersections to include; Oakdale Avenue; Reid Avenue; and Broadway Avenue. Unit #1 continued E/B on E.23rd Street through the Apple Avenue intersection until reaching Elyria Avenue. At the Elyria Avenue intersection Unit #1 failed to maintain control of the vehicle. Unit #1 traveled off the road; through the driveway of 2253 Elyria Avenue and into the backyard. Unit #1 then struck a large tree in the back yard head on and came to rest. The driver of Unit #1 sustained life threatening injuries and was transported to Mercy Regional Hospital by Life Care Ambulance.
