This accident, involving 2 vehicles occurred on Saturday, February 4th 2023 at approximately 8:25 pm. The driver of red Toyota (2002) wrong way. Injuries were reported. An officer from Columbus Police Department was present at the scene and recorded the information contained in this report.
On February 4; 2023 at 8:25 p.m. Unit #1 entered the wrong way (eastbound in the westbound lanes of a divided highway; S.R. 104 from the area of Lockbourne Road or S. High Street. Unit #1 continued at apparent freeway speeds the wrong direction on S.R 104 and collided head on with Unit #2. Unit #2 was traveling westbound on S.R. 104 (the correct direction) and the units collided about 150 feet east of Alum Creek Drive (Milepost 94). The driver of Unit #1 was transported to Grant Hospitalin Critical Condition by CFD Medic #815 after being extricated from his vehicle. The driver of Unit #1 was pronounced at 9:00 p.m. by the attending emergency doctor at Grant Hospital. The driver of Unit #2 was also transported to Grant Hospital in Critical Condition by CFD Medic #15 and was pronounced at 9:36 p.m. The passenger of Unit #2 was transported in stable condition by Medic #181 to Mount Carmel East Hospital. Both vehicles were towed by Pro-tow to the columbus police impound lot. AIU Detective Perez responded to the scene for processing. Insurance information was not found in either vehicle.
