This accident, involving 2 vehicles occurred on Monday, January 2nd 2023 at approximately 5:18 pm. The driver of mauve (purple) Toyota (2005) failure to yield. Injuries were reported. An officer from Columbus Police Department was present at the scene and recorded the information contained in this report.

There was a fatal traffic accident at the entrace to the shopping center of 2455 Hilliard-Rome Rd. south of Roberts Rd. Unit 1 was traveling northbound on Hilliard-Rome Rd.; and was turning left to go westbound into the aforementioned shopping center. Unit 2 was traveling southbound on Hilliard-Rome Rd. Unit 1 failed to yield to Unit 2 causing Unit 2 to strike Unit 1. The driver of Unit 2 was critically injured; and transported to Grant Hospital by CFD Medic 26. The driver of Unit 2 later succumbed to his injuries; and was pronounced dead by Grant ER staff at 19:49. The driver of Unit 1 stated he had side pain. Norwich Township Medic 82 responded to scene; and the driver of Unit 1 was treated on scene. Unit 1 sustained disabling damage to its passenger side rear side. Unit 2 sustained disabling damage. CPD AIU was contacted; and is taking over the investigation. To gain OH-1 compliance; the model year for Unit 2 was estimated to be 2010. Unit 2's VIN and license plate came back as unregistered.
