This accident, involving 3 vehicles occurred on Tuesday, January 3rd 2023 at approximately 5:14 pm. The driver of black Kia (2021) improper turn. Injuries were reported. An officer from Columbus Police Department was present at the scene and recorded the information contained in this report.
The collision occurred at the intersection of E Broad St and Sister Calotta. The drivers of Unit #2; Unit #3 and Witness stated Unit #2 was traveling east on E Broad St when Unit #1 was in the westbound lane on E Broad St.and turned south/left in front if Unit #2. Unit #2 struck Unit #1 in the right side of Unit #1; causing both vehicles to spin out towards Unit #3; resulting in Unit #2 striking Unit #3 that was stopped; facing north on Sister Calotta. Unit #2 and Unit #1 came into contact again at their final resting position. The driver and two passengers of Unit #1 were transported to Mount Carmel East by CPD medic 35; Whitehall Medic 151; and Whitehall Medic 152. The driver of Unit #2 self transported to MCE and the driver of Unit #3 was evaluated on scene.The two passengers from Unit #1 went fatal. AIU responded to complete the investigation.
