Unit 1 was SB on E 78th St approaching a red traffic signal at Union Ave; at speeds well above the posted speed limit. As Unit 1 entered the intersection; Unit 2 was going WB on Union Ave; approaching the green traffic signal at E 78th St. The front end of Unit 2 collided with the left side of Unit 1. Unit 1 sheared in half at the B pillar when it collided with a wooden utility pole; ejecting the rear passenger. Unit 2 rotated spun; and collided with another wooden utility pole. The front passenger of Unit 2 was ejected through the front passenger window.
