Unit 1 was traveling northeast on State Route 28. Unit 2 was traveling southwest on State Route 28. Unit 1 drove left of center and then swerved to avoid oncoming traffic. Unit 1 failed to maintain control; crossed the centerline and was struck by Unit 2. Unit 1 broke in half on impact and ejected the driver. The rear section of Unit 1 traveled off the left side of the roadway. The front section of Unit 1 came to rest on the north roadway berm.
