This accident, involving 2 vehicles occurred on Thursday, December 15th 2022 at approximately 11:28 am. The driver of black Chrysler (2015) failure to yield. Injuries were reported. An officer from Columbus Police Department was present at the scene and recorded the information contained in this report.
The driver of Unit 1 stated he was driving northbound on James Rd. and attempted to turn westbound on Astor Ave. The driver of Unit 1 stated that he thought he had more time to turn but Unit 2 struck him on the passenger side of his vehicle. The driver of Unit 2 stated he was driving southbound on James Rd. when Unit 1 turned westbound in front of him. The driver of Unit 2 stated he could not stop in time and struck Unit 1 on the passenger side of his vehicle. The driver and front passenger of Unit 1 were transported to Grant Hospital in stable condition. The rear passenger of Unit 1 was transported to Grant hospital in life threatening condition and later pronounced deceased. The driver of Unit 2 was transported to Grant hospital in stable condition. Both vehicles were impounded to the city impound lot as evidence. AIU responded to the scene for further investigation.
