EYE WITNESS ACCOUNTS STATED THAT UNIT 1 WAS TRAVELING AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED; NORTHBOUND ON REYNOLDS; APPROACHING DORR. THE VEHICLE FAILED TO NEGOITIATE THE SLIGHT CURVE IN THE ROADWAY; WENT OFF THE ROADWAY TO THE RIGHT; OVER THE CURB AND STRUCK THE STEEL AND CONCRETE POST THAT WAS PROTECTING THE UTILITY POLE AT THAT LOCATION. THE VEHICLE KNOCKED OVER THAT POST AND THEN STRUCK THE WOODEN POLE WITH ENOUGH FORCE TO CAUSE IT TO SNAP AT THE TOP. THE DRIVER HAD TO BE EXTRICATED FROM THE VEHICLE BY TFRD. HE DIED LATER AT THE HOSPITAL.
