This accident, involving 2 vehicles occurred on Tuesday, November 8th 2022 at approximately 3:44 pm. The driver of blue Hyundai (2017) ran red light. Injuries were reported. An officer from MAPLE HEIGHTS Police Department was present at the scene and recorded the information contained in this report.
Unit 1 was driving W B on Rockside Road in the middle travel lane; and passed the green light at the intersection of Rockside Road; and Pennsylvania Avenue. Unit 2 was heading N B on Pennsylvania Avenue and ran the red light to make a left hand turn to travel W B on Rockside Road. Unit 2 s front end struck Unit 1 s rear driver side trailer tires. Unit 2 lost control after the collision; headed southwest; and struck the traffic control box located on the south side of Rockside Road. Unit 2 s driver side door airbag was deployed. Unit 2 operator; Francine Crawford was found to have suspected heroin in her possession located inside her purse in a coin bag. Unit 2 operator was transported to Metro Hospital and was later pronounced dead on 11-10-2022 at 0847 hours. (See 501 supplement). Unit 1 sustained minor damage. Unit 2 sustained disabling damage and was removed from the scene by Kelly s Towing.
