Unit 1; southbound on S. Main St.; was observed by law enforcement to be traveling at a rate of speed greater than the posted 25mph speed limit (estimated 50-60 mph). Unit 1 proceeded through the red signal at S. Main St. and Logan St. without stopping; moving across the center line into the northbound lane of travel. Unit 1 then left the eastern side of the roadway; striking a concrete retaining wall and going airborne; rotating while in the air. Unit 1 struck two fixed flagpoles and one fixed lightpole along the eastern side of S. Main St. Unit 1 then struck Unit 2; traveling northbound on S. Main St. south of Lakeshore Dr. Debris (lightpole) ejected from Unit 1's impact struck Unit 3; northbound on S. Main St. Severe/disabling damage to entire vehicle of Unit 1. Severe/disabling damage to front of Unit 2. Driver of Unit 1 had to be mechanically extracted from vehicle and was later declared deceased. Minor damage to driver's side rocker panel Unit 3.
