This accident, involving 2 vehicles occurred on Monday, July 4th 2022 at approximately 11:07 pm. The driver of red Dodge (2000) failure to yield. Injuries were reported. An officer from Columbus Police Department was present at the scene and recorded the information contained in this report.
Unit #1 was traveling south from a private drive attempting to make a left hand turn onto Central College Rd and go east at the intersection of Central College Rd and Gatwater Blvd. Unit #2 was traveling west on Central College Rd approaching Gatewater Blvd. Unit #1 failed to yeild the right on way and pulled out infront of Unit #2 causing an angled collision. Driver of Unit #2 was treated at scene by CFD medic 29. At 11:21pm; Driver of Unit #1 was pronounced deceased at scene by medic 12. Medic 121 transported Passenger #1 from Unit #1 to Mount Carmel East Hospital in serious non-life threatening condition. Accident Investigation Squad responded to scene. Witness #1; Witness #2 and Driver #2 provided detectives with written witness statements. Both Unit #1 and Unit #2 were impounded for safe keeping.
