This accident, involving 2 vehicles occurred on Sunday, April 17th 2022 at approximately 6:12 pm. The driver of white Saturn (2008) ran red light. Injuries were reported. An officer from Akron Police Department was present at the scene and recorded the information contained in this report.
Unit 1 was heading eastbound on E Market St and was making a left; northbound turn onto N Case Ave. Unit 1 had the green light. Unit 2 was traveling at a high rate of speed southbound on N Case Ave and ran the red light at E Market St. While making the turn; unit 1 clipped unit 2. Unit 2 lost control and hit a curb. Unit 2 continued southbound hitting concrete jersey barrier wall which launched the vehicle into the air hitting the bridge railing on the other side. While unit 2 was airborne; two occupants were ejected. Unit 2 then fell down into the canal.
