This accident, involving 2 vehicles occurred on Tuesday, May 10th 2022 at approximately 1:51 pm. The driver of black Chevrolet (2020) following too close / acda. Injuries were reported. An officer from AUSTINTOWN (TOWNSHIP OF) Police Department was present at the scene and recorded the information contained in this report.
Unit 1 was legally parked on the roadway in front of 116 Aldrich Rd. Unit 2 was southbound on Aldrich Rd. and struck the driver side rear of Unit 1. Upon Lt. Collins arrival Unit 2 was slumped over at the wheel and displayed signs of a cardiac arrest. Lt. Collins began CPR until Lane Ambulance and AFD arrived on scene and took over life saving measures. Unit 2 was transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital for treatment. Unit 2 was towed for safekeeping. A follow up call was placed to the Mahoning County Coroner's Office regarding Unit 2. It was advised that Unit 2 did have a heart attack as well as broken ribs most likely as a result of CPR and broken vertebrate.
