This accident occurred on Saturday, December 18th 2021 at approximately 7:56 am. Injuries were reported. An officer from KETTERING Police Department was present at the scene and recorded the information contained in this report.
On 12/18/2021; Traffic Unit 1 was traveling north on Woodman Drive in an unknown lane and an unknown speed. When near the intersection of Woodman Drive and East Dorothy Lane; Unit 1 apparently left the east side of the roadway and collided with a light pole. At approximately 0756 hours; Ptl. D. Stewart and I were flagged down in reference to an unresponsive driver on Woodman Drive near East Dorothy Lane. The vehicle was observed facing north on the east side off of the road. The male driver was slumped over and unresponsive to attempts to get his attention. The vehicle was also in drive. Ptl. Stewart broke the passenger side front window; unlocked the doors; and placed the vehicle in park. As he was getting the AED device; I removed the male from the vehicle and started CPR. After the AED device was unsuccessful; KFD medics arrived on scene and removed the male to Kettering Hospital The vehicle had minor damage on the front bumper and there was a dent in the light pole. The pole number was 18797 and was marked DP&L. I noted no visible injuries to the male prior to his removal. Sgt. Perkins had been notified and Ptl. Ward arrived to take photographs and collect evidence. We attempted to contact potential family at the driver's residence but there was no answers. Neighbors advised that he lived alone. Once Ptl.
