Unknown at the time of the crash which vehicle was going southbound in the northbound lanes of Interstate 71 at mile post 120. Both units were in the number #1 lane and struck each other head on. The driver and passenger in the Ford Escape were transported to Riverside Hospital in life threatening condition and then eventually were pronounced at 0354 and 0355 hours. The driver of the Honda Civic was transported to St. Ann's in life threatening condition and then was eventually pronounced at 0401 hours. AIU responded to scene to complete the investigation. Both vehicles were impounded for safekeeping.
