City of Columbus Crime Cameras ("Hudson & Cleveland PTZ" and "Hudson & Cleveland Fixed 2") show Unit #1 traveling at a high rate of speed in the right lane eastbound on E Hudson St west of Cleveland Ave. As Unit #1 continues east through the intersection of E Hudson Street and Cleveland Ave; it runs off the road right (south) and strikes City of Columbus Electric Division pole #108766; causing the pole to snap and fall. The driver of Unit #1 was removed from the vehicle by bystanders prior to being transported by CFD Medic #18 in critical life threatening condition to Grant Hospital. The driver of Unit #1 was pronounced deceased at Grant Hospital at 6:34pm by Dr. Bean. No other injuries reported at scene. CPD AIU responded to investigate. City Electric was notified to make repairs. Unit #1 was towed to the CPD Impound Lot for safekeeping by an unknown company at the time of this report. The license plate on Unit #1 did not register to the vehicle itself; however it did register to the driver.
