Officers arrived at Karl Rd and Ferris Rd on the report of a single vehicle accident and observed Unit 1 had struck a pole just south of the intersection. CFD medic 24 was on scene attempting to treat the driver of Unit 1. CFD were able to extract the driver from the vehicle and transported him critical to Riverside Methodist Hospital. Officers made contact with witness #1; via cellphone; who stated that she was behind Unit 1 and that they were traveling northbound on Karl Rd. Witness #1 stated that as they were approaching the intersection of Ferris Rd she observed Unit 1 getting over into the right turn lane and just kept continuing onto the sidwalk; and then striking the pole. Dr.Brian Marshall pronounced the driver of Unit 1 at4:17pm. Social Worker Season Shipe #6144403351 notified family and the brother in law of the driver of Unit 1; John Franceschelli; arrived to Riverside and was able to positively identify the driver of Unit 1. Unit #1 had a 12 point suspension. Officers held the scene and notified AIU who responded and processed the scene. Unit 1 was impounded to 2700 Impound Lot Rd for safekeeping.
