This accident, involving 2 vehicles occurred on Friday, June 25th 2021 at approximately 8:39 pm. The driver of blue; dark Chevrolet (2012) ran red light. Injuries were reported. An officer from Columbus Police Department was present at the scene and recorded the information contained in this report.
Unit 1 was traveling eastbound on E. Livingston Ave approaching the intersection of E. Livingston Ave & Shady Lane Rd. Unit 2 was traveling northbound on Shady Lane Rd approaching the same intersection. Unit 2 proceeded through the intersection and was struck on the driver side (t-bone) by Unit 1. Multiple Witnesses at scene stated that Unit 1 was traveling at an excessive speed and ran the red light. Officers at scene noted skid marks approximately 50 feet before the intersection where Unit 1 slammed on the brakes. The driver of Unit 1 did not report any injuries. The driver of Unit 2 was transported in unstable condition to Mt. Carmel East Hospital via CFD Medic 823. The driver of Unit 2 was treated by ER Dr. DeSean for a broken pelvis and broken collar bone. The driver of Unit 1 was issued a citation for failing to obey the traffic control device and for driving on an expired license (Citation # CPD007231). Unit 1 was towed to the impound lot via E&E Towing for the no-ops. Unit 2 was towed to the impound lot for safekeeping via Johnsons towing.
