This accident, involving 2 vehicles occurred on Tuesday, March 30th 2021 at approximately 7:59 am. The driver of black Chevrolet (2004) unsafe speed. Injuries were reported. An officer from Lorain Police Department was present at the scene and recorded the information contained in this report.
Unit 2; with attached trailer; was stopped on the side of the road on West Erie Avenue (U.S. 6) placing safety signage. Unit 2 had its safety flashers activated and was completely on the shoulder outside the lanes of travel. Unit 1 was chasing a silver Mitsubishi Lancer at a high rate of speed eastbound on W. Erie Avenue (U.S. 6). Unit 1 failed to negotiate a curve in the road; ran off the right side of the road; over corrected; and ran into the back of Unit 2 (truck & trailer). Unit 1 disengaged with the truck & trailer and came to a final rest in the eastbound lanes of travel of W. Erie Avenue (U.S. 6). The crash occurred approximately 700 feet East of Franke Drive on West Erie Avenue (U.S. 6). The trailer attached to Unit #2 is a Vermeer BC1000XL with VIN: 1VRY11194J1026454.
