This accident, involving 1 vehicle occurred on Thursday, August 27th 2020 at approximately 9:25 am. The driver of blue; light Toyota (2004) drove off road. Injuries were reported. An officer from WASHINGTON (Township of) Police Department was present at the scene and recorded the information contained in this report.
Unit 1 was east bound on CR 30 just west of TR 125 when unit 1 exited the roadway right. Unit 1 then struck a utility pole and continued east bound in the ditch. Unit 1 then exited the ditch and started into a counter clockwise spin while exiting the ditch. Unit 1 then continued across the roadway and struck a tree on the passenger side of unit 1. Unit 1 then spun counter clockwise around the tree and came to rest facing south. In an undetermined amount of time; unit 1 then caught fire and was not discovered until some time post crash. The remains of unit 1 driver was found laying across passenger seat with lower extremities still in driver's floorboard area. Unit 1 driver appeared to succumb to injury sustained from initial impact at tree. The Hardin County Sheriff Office was assisted on scene by Dunkirk Fire and EMS; and Osborn Towing.
